Original Vintage Antique William Tell Cast Iron Mechanical Bank- Crossbow J.E. Stevens Penny BANK patented June 23, 1896. Working Condition. Shown on the bottom of the base is the patent date. Paint is as pictured with some pitting. Crossbow fires to knock the apple off boy's head and ring bell. Includes Trap. Dimensions: 6 3/4" H, 10 1/2" L. See Pictures. It is operated in a four step process by (1) bringing down the right arm of the 'target' boy which places the apple above his head; and then (2) sliding back the spring loaded mechanism on top of the barrel; then (3) laying a coin horizontally across the barrel in front of the spring loading mechanism; and finally (4) pressing the shooter's right foot down to release the spring which will then 'shoot' the coin into the castle - knocking over the apple atop the boy's head as it zips past.
