Royal Doulton Musical Character Toby Jug - Auld Mac D5889
Very, very nice - and quite hard to find, Royal Doulton Toby Jug with an internal musical box. The Toby jug is the Auld Mac character and is Royal Doulton number D-5889. The difference between this large Auld Mac Toby jug and the regular large Auld Mac Toby is the internal music box. The jug is hand decorated in brown and green colors, and Auld Mac has a pinkish color face with red checks, black eyes, and gray tinged hair. Auld Mac was designed by Harry Fenton. SA 404 020919
The jug stands - all measurements are from outside edge to outside edge, 6 1/4 inches high at the top of the handle and 5 3/4 inches at the top of the rim. At its widest the top is 5 3/4 inches in diameter. The round base is 4 1/2 inches in diameter and it is 7 1/2 inches from the tip of the spout to the back edge of the handle.
The jug and its music box are in excellent condition. The jug does not have any chips cracks, wear, or repairs. The interior surface is with some scattered light crazing. The key wind and the ball on/off mechanism are in perfect working order and the music plays. The internal musical mechanism is a genuine Thorens Swiss movement. The inside edge of the base of the jug has two notations in black ink: "The Campbells are Coming" and on the opposite edge, "Royal Doulton Made in England".
MUSICAL CHARACTER JUG D5889
