Vintage Hull Vase, "Magnolia Matte" Double Handle Vase, 3-8.5
DESCRIPTION: This double-handled vase was made in the United States by Hull Pottery in the 1940s. It is crafted in fine ivory pottery with a matte glaze, the most desirable and most collectible of Hull's glazes. The base color Blue and pink was applied in a gradient manner. The front is decorated with a bas relief magnolia with a pale rose magnolia bud, pale green leaves The flower is pale yellow-peach. The back is decorated with a bas relief pale rose magnolia bud with pale green leaves. Both handles curve smoothly from the underside of the opening and are attached to the bulbous part of the vase body with a leaf design.
DIMENSIONS: Roughly 8 1/2 inches tall with a 5 1/2 x 4 inch opening and a 4 1/2 inch diameter base. The vase is rather heavy, weighing 2 3/4 pounds.
CONDITION: This vase is in very good condition. The outer glaze is smooth and the pastel colors still intact. There is some crazing. There are no cracks or chips.
This is a beautiful piece of Hull art pottery that would be stunning on any table or in a display cabinet. For those who collect Hull pottery, this piece should be at the top of your list. BH 008 112818
